Life Transitions & Identity

When the life you knew no longer fits.

Some transitions are chosen. Others arrive without permission. Either way, they can leave you standing in a life that no longer quite fits — unsure which parts of yourself to carry forward.

Transitions we may explore

  • Career changes, endings, and reinvention
  • Parenthood and caregiving roles
  • Relocation and immigration
  • Cultural identity and living between worlds
  • Widowhood and life after profound loss
  • Changes in health or family roles
  • Starting over — at any age
  • Questioning purpose and meaning
  • Rebuilding identity after loss

The grief inside change

Transitions can involve real grief even when the change was chosen, hoped for, or objectively positive. It is possible to be grateful for a new chapter and still mourn the one that ended. Therapy can hold both truths at once.

You are allowed to miss who you were while becoming who you are.

You do not have to wait until everything becomes unbearable.

Reaching out does not mean you have failed to cope. It can be the first step toward having a place where you no longer have to carry everything by yourself.
